Default Ranger Gear

Hey,

I'm relatively new to Guild Wars. I currently play a Ranger. I play the Prophecies campaign, and I am level 20.

From what I understood, level 20 is the highest you can get in the Prophecies campaign. I am just curious about what to do now that I am done leveling. What gear should I be aiming for? I don't have a guild. I am playing with a friend. Right now we are just doing quests together, with four henchmen.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Along the same lines, what would the Warrior equivalent of the Ranger gear you tell me be?

Once you get to Droknar's Forge you can have max armor crafted for you. Apply 5 insignias and 5 runes to it. I like to go "generic" and add radiant to chest and legs and survivor to the other 3. Runes are as big a vigor as you can afford, and maybe minors in expertise and wilderness, beast if you use it.

I typically get a hat for each attribute that I want to boost: Marksmanship +1, Expertise +1, etc and add as big a rune as you are comfortable to it, I usually go superior.

You probably want several bows with different modifiers: sundering, silencing, +5energy, vampiric, flat bow, recurve bow, etc. It depends on what you like to run. I also have a +20 energy staff for trapping.

Everyone has their preferences. Look at what you do and look for gear to complement it.

Hi There,

If you only have Proph then you may be a little short of cash, the reason is that this campaign alone does not have a large pool of cash unlike the others so,

Have a search in the Desert areas for the collectors as they will offer you max armor rating collectors armour until you have enough cash to obtain another max one you like.

Look on wiki at the armour and at the bottom of the page there is collectors click that and it will tell you what materials you need from drops in the desert

so armour can be boosted by Insignas/Runes so have another look at some builds on wiki or the campfire section under the profession and you will see what runes ect are mostly utilised

There is no uber gear in Guild Wars. There are max damage weapons and max protection armor that can be modified to suit your playstyle. You can check those out on the wiki under Gear & Equipment http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page . These mods are found as part of dropped weapons & monster armor pieces. They can be salvaged using an Expert/Superior/Perfect Salvage Kit http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Kit and added to your armor or weapon. They can also be purchased in-game from other players.

Unlike other RPG games, Guild Wars is based on obtaining skills and learning how to use them together to create a good build. Also how to create builds that synergize with the rest of your team. It is more like Magic: The Gathering card game then the D&D-style RPGs.

So, follow the storyline and gather useful skills (make sure you did all the skill reward quests for free ones) and enjoy the game. As for a warrior, the advice is the same as for a ranger.
